Vines is a wine-influenced series that celebrates barrel aged wild beer and locally grown grapes.
This particular iteration sourced its spark of inspiration from Beaujolais Nouveau — a red wine made with gamay grapes, produced in the Beaujolais region of France and released annually on the third Thursday of November.
Vines Gamay Nouveau is a foeder aged sour pale ale base that was further conditioned on gamay from Niagara. It’s downright delicious, super drinkable, and the ideal intersection between natural wine and wild beer. The underlying presence of the foeder beer shows up as passionfruit and pineapple and the grapes add a pleasing earthy complexity, some tannins, notes of pomegranate and that beautiful gamay colour. Put it all together and it’s the beverage equivalent of biting into tart purple plum.
