A few short weeks ago we released Double Barrel BOYD Rye and today we are releasing its sibling-of-sorts: Double Barrel BOYD Bourbon.
Both iterations first spent 12 months in cognac barrels, layering notes of raisin and anise onto an Imperial Stout base. A subsequent trip to secondary barrels resulted in two deliciously different beasts. Whereas the rye version was quite spirit-forward, this newest addition picked up lots of oak characteristics during its 9-month sojourn in bourbon barrels. Hints of clove and vanilla are underscored by a pleasant touch of bourbon heat, all within a thick and sticky body.
Note: a labour-intensive and s l o w process such as this one means that the end result will move fast.
