About Bellwoods Brewery

Bellwoods Brewery is a new Toronto microbrewery, retail store & café at 124-126 Ossington Ave.

Our brewery cafe at 124 Ossington opened on April 11, with a snack focused menu by Guy Rawlings. We expect the patio to open in the first two weeks of May. The brewery retail store will open at 126 Ossington sometime in June.

Mike Clark and Luke Pestl met while working as brewers for the Amsterdam Brewing Company. They share a long time interest in craft brewing and have backgrounds in biochemistry and biochemical engineering, respectively. Both are long time residents of the Bellwoods/Ossington area.

Long before becoming a man of science, and dedicating himself to zymurgic arts, Luke’s humble beginnings included roles pumping gas (particularly fun midwinter) and couriering packages by bike (particularly fun midwinter). Mike’s beginnings included a lot of time operating audio instruments, and a similar amount of time toiling away in research laboratories.

Mike spends his time away from the brewery trying to stop his very old house from collapsing into a cloud of dust. Luke and his wife just had their second child, and now have two young boys. Luke is currently studying for exams with the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. Luke is more handy than Mike. Mike is a better bass player than Luke. Both enjoy gardening. Here is a photo of the duo wearing aprons.
